How it works

Ten seconds to a lesson. Minutes a day after that.

Flas is built the way a child actually learns a language from family: hear it, recognise it, then say it. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you open the app.

A Flas lesson
The first minute

No account. Two taps. A lesson.

  1. 1

    Pick your course

Albanian for the diaspora — prompts in English — or German for Albanian-speaking kids. Nothing is asked of you yet: no name, no email.

  2. 2

Say how much you already have

Beginner, some words, or more than you can say. This only decides where the path suggests you start; every lesson stays open.

  3. 3

    Your first lesson plays

Five short exercises. You hear "Mirëdita" in a real Albanian voice before you are ever asked to produce it.

  4. 4

    After two lessons: keep it

Flas offers to save your progress — with Google, Apple or an email. Your streak and XP carry over to the account exactly as they are.

Inside a lesson

Recognise first, produce second.

Every lesson opens with listening and matching and only then asks you to build or say something. Six kinds of exercise take turns, so a lesson never feels like the same screen five times.

👂

What do you hear?

A phrase plays. Pick how it is written. Ties the sound to the spelling.

🔁

What does this mean?

Multiple choice in both directions — Albanian to English and back.

🖼️

Which picture is it?

Hear a word, tap the picture. The exercise a child can do before reading.

✏️

Complete the sentence

One word is missing. Choose it, then hear the whole sentence.

🧩

Build the sentence

Tap words into the right order from a small word bank.

🎤

Say it out loud

Speak the phrase. The app scores how close you got. Your voice is never stored.

When you get one wrong: the right answer is shown, you can replay it in the real voice, and the lesson carries on. Mistakes cost nothing but a second.

Staying with it

A goal, a streak, and levels that mean something.

Daily goal

Choose 3, 10 or 20 minutes a day — that is 15, 30 or 50 XP. A ring on the dashboard fills as you go, and a week strip shows which days you kept it.

XP and levels

Every lesson passed for the first time earns XP. Levels come fast at the beginning — a child sees the number move on the first evening — and slow down as they climb through five tiers:

Streak and badges

Practise on consecutive days and the streak grows. Badges mark the moments worth marking: first steps, a flawless lesson, a finished unit, an eagle streak, the whole course.

A reminder, only if you want one

After the third lesson Flas offers a daily reminder at a time you choose. Decline it and it will not ask again.

The learning path
The voice

Every word, spoken by a real Albanian voice. Offline.

Android phones ship no Albanian voice, and the nearest substitute reads Albanian like Italian. So every phrase in the curriculum is pre-recorded in two Albanian voices, Anila and Ilir, and bundled with the app. Nothing is fetched, nothing is generated on the fly, and a phone in a village with no signal still speaks perfectly.

Your first lesson is ten seconds away.

No account, no card. Learn on your own, or bring the whole family along.
